 FAQ's

How does Emu Oil work?
The main properties of emu oil are that it has high penetrability, can moisturise and nourishes the skin with essential fatty acids. It doesn't clog pores, it's hypo-allergenic, anti-inflammatory and pain relieving. Emu Oil penetrates the outer skin and nourishes and heals the skin at the deepest levels.

How do I use 4 Elements Emu Oil?
Emu Oil is a very economical oil . A few drops will moisturise your whole face. The oil is quickly absorbed into your skin leaving your skin smooth and soft to the touch without the greasiness.

Is Emu Oil suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. When treating irritated or sensitive skin it is important to use the 100% Pure Emu Oil or our Settler's Gold Emu Oil which is 95 % Emu Oil & 5% Wheat germ Oil. It is completely hypo-allergenic and non-irritating even for sensitive skin. Remember if you are sensitive to wheat, use the 100% emu oil.

Does Pure Emu Oil have a scent?
Pure Emu Oil has very little or no scent at all. Low quality emu oil which has not been processed correctly with a high water content may go rancid faster than it should, so buy from a reputable supplier. It is recommended that in hot weather the oil is refrigerated. When processed correctly, the pure oil has a shelf life of up to two years. The addition of 5% wheatgerm oil acts as a natural preservative and a natural source of Vitamin E.

Can Emu Oil be used for aging skin and wrinkles?
Emu Oil is a very efficient moisturiser because of its Fatty Acid Composition and because it hydrates the skin. As moisture increases the, the plumpness of the skin increases making wrinkles less obvious. Using pure oil is an option as well as the Early Settler Moisturising Day or the Moisturising Night Cream.

Does 4 Elements Oil get rid of stretch marks?
Settler's Gold with 5 % Wheatgerm Oil is the best option for stretch marks because of the added Vitamin E.

Is Emu oil safe for pregnant women?
Yes, Emu oil is safe for pregnant women but it is recommended that only pure emu oil be used (without essential oils).

Can you use Emu Oil on babies?

Can Emu Oil be Used On Pets?

How Much Emu Oil Do You Use?

As emu oil is an efficient oil, only a small amount is needed. If it feels oily after you have massaged it in for a few second, then you have probably used too much. It's better to use small amounts, more often. Try just a few drops first, then add more if your skin needs it.

Can Emu Oil Be Used In Other Products?

Emu Oil certainly can and is used in many skin care products ranging from face creams to lip balms, soaps and liniments. Emu Oil is one of the best natural emollients that can be used in skin care products. See our products range in our online shop.

What is Sorbolene Cream and why are our creams different?

Dermatologist advise  and recommend Sorbolene Cream, yet many people don’t actually understand what sorbolene is.

A sorbolene cream basically means a water/oil emulsion. What you find with most commercial “Sorbolene” is that they replace the oil portion of the cream with cheap mineral oils. Although these creams may feel good, they certainly don’t do your skin any good.

Sorbolene usually contains liquid paraffin that coats the skin which gives a silky feel, but it clogs the pores and does not allow it to breath. The fact that your skin does not breathe  also means it cannot get rid of  toxins resulting in potential skin problems.

Sorbolene creams usually do not contain any vitamins. They appear to hydrate or moisturise but really they can suppress the skins ability to function normally and do very little to nourish and hydrate.

On the other hand, cold pressed fruit and seed oils are readily absorbed by the skin and are used to nourish. Most vegetable oils contain vitamins, such as A, D and E, essential fatty acids. They soften the skin making more pliable, and helping it to retain moisture.

Try our Day and Night Cream to smooth, nourish and rehydrate your skin with out the use of parabens, artificial colours or fragrances.

What Is Dermatitis?

Irritant contact dermatitis occurs when chemicals or an agent damage the surface of the skin faster  than it can repair the damage. The dermatitis or eczema can show as redness, dryness, itchiness,or scaling of the affected area. The degree of damage can be affected by the amount and strength of irritant, length or frequency of  exposure and the individuals susceptibility.

Even everyday  things such as water and detergents can irritate. More often than not, it is a combination of factors that can injure the skin by removing the natural oils and moisture from the skin.

What Is Eczema?

What Is Eczema and What To Use?

Eczema  is a common skin condition affecting a large number  and although there is no known cure it is able to be controlled. Many children will outgrow the condition ( 85 % by age 5)

Eczema itself is characterised by hot, dry, red, itchy skin that can affect the face as well as the body.

Dry skin is the key feature of eczema and not only is it more sensitive to irritants it also has reduced water-holding capacity. This is why moisturising and bathing is such an important component of eczema management.

Moisturisers can be occlusive which provide a layer of oil on the skin to slow water loss and increase water content of the skin or emollient which provides moisture to soften the skin by filling the pores with oil droplets.

One of the key issues with eczema is to keep the skin well moisturised at all times but what moisturiser to use especially if it is recommended that you use them several times a day.  It is important to recognise when they need to be applied.  If a cream irritates then it should be stopped immediately.
